250 Years: Semiquincentennial Celebration Downtown Lansing

Downtown Lansing will celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with a full day of community events, live music, and fireworks during the Semiquincentennial Celebration on July 3.

The celebration begins with the Independence Day Parade at 11am around the Capitol Loop, followed by the 1776–2026 American Music Tour concert on the Capitol Steps at noon.

A downtown block party at Lugnuts Stadium kicks off at 4pm., leading into the evening’s 4th of July Concert at Adado Riverfront Park beginning at 7pm. featuring the Lansing Concert Band and the USAF Roots in Blue Band.

The evening will conclude with fireworks over the riverfront at 10pm.

Lansing Concert Band July 4 Celebration
Presented by Lansing Concert Band

Celebrate Independence Day along the riverfront with the annual July 4 concert presentation by the Lansing Concert Band at Adado Riverfront Park in downtown Lansing. This patriotic summer tradition will feature a lively evening of patriotic selections and pops favorites performed live outdoors in one of Lansing’s most scenic gathering spaces.

This year’s celebration will begin earlier than previous years with a 7:00 PM start time and will be followed by a special performance from the USAF Roots in Blue Band. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of live music, community, and fireworks along the riverfront. Food trucks will also be on-site with snacks and refreshments available throughout the evening.

The evening will conclude with the City of Lansing fireworks display beginning around 10:00 PM.

Treat Trot Lansing
Presented by Bodies Race Company

Participants are invited to enjoy a fun, family-friendly race experience welcoming all ages, paces, and fitness levels.

Race day begins with packet pickup from 5:30–6:45am. The Kids Dash will begin at 6:55am., with participants meeting at the start line before being walked to the starting area. The National Anthem and official race start will follow at 7:00am. Live results and awards will be available at the registration tent immediately following each participant’s finish.

Every registration includes a designer race shirt, custom finisher medal, chip timing with live results and awards, free race photos, finish line snacks, and plenty of fun throughout the event.

The 5K, 10K, and 15K registrations include a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal. Youth pricing is available for participants ages 12 and under in the 5K and 10K for just $17. The 1 Mile event is untimed and includes a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal.

The Kids Dash is a fun, untimed event designed for children ages 10 and under. Registered participants will receive a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specially crafted finisher medal. Children who wish to participate in the Kids Dash without receiving event swag are welcome to join free of charge on race day.

Participants are encouraged to register by midnight on Thursday, two Thursdays prior to race day, to guarantee their event shirt.

A native Detroiter, Karla Pace brings soulful vocals, polished stage presence, and true Motown flair to every performance. She has opened for major artists including Babyface, Anita Baker, Chante Moore, India Arie, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Musiq Soulchild, and more. She has also performed the National Anthem for the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers.

Lyrical Heat Entertainment brings together talented musicians and vocalists with experience performing alongside Grammy and Tony Award-winning artists. Known for captivating audiences in both intimate settings and large-scale performances, the group delivers a powerful live music experience rooted in soul, energy, and connection.

BMRW Promotions, based in Lansing, MI, produces live music events, specializing in the annual "An Evening of Smooth Jazz" series. They promote national and local jazz artists, including 496 West, to educate and entertain audiences in the Michigan community. Join us for the August installment of the Rhythm in the Park Series at Fish Ladder Music Park featuring Lansing's own 496 West.

Known as one of Mid-Michigan's premier live bands, 496 West delivers an unforgettable blend of smooth jazz, R&B, soul, blues, and gospel-inspired sounds. Featuring soulful vocals, a dynamic horn section, powerful musicianship, and a rich mix of original music and crowd-favorite covers, the band has built a reputation for captivating audiences throughout Michigan and beyond.

Over the years, 496 West has shared stages with nationally recognized jazz artists including Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Norman Brown, Euge Groove, and Phil Perry while performing at festivals, cultural celebrations, and community events across the region.

BMRW Promotions, based in Lansing, MI, produces live music events, specializing in the annual "An Evening of Smooth Jazz" series. They promote national and local jazz artists, including 496 West, to educate and entertain audiences in the Michigan community. They also offer live entertainment for private events, weddings, and corporate gatherings.

The festival features the long-awaited return of Michigan favorites Steppin In It, whose homecoming performance is sure to be a highlight for Lansing music fans, as well as nationally acclaimed headliners Full Cord—Telluride Bluegrass Festival winners and IBMA Momentum Band of the Year.

The Unity In Music Festival brings a full day of music, art, community, and culture to Old Town, Lansing with a free, all-ages celebration happening across multiple locations throughout the district. Designed to encourage visitors to explore the neighborhood and support local businesses, the festival will feature live DJs, artists, vendors, interactive experiences, and community engagement opportunities throughout the day and evening.

The festival’s main stage will take place at the newly renovated Fish Ladder Music Park, transforming the riverfront into a vibrant gathering space filled with music, creativity, and connection. Additional stages and activations throughout Old Town will create an immersive festival atmosphere designed to unite the community through art and entertainment. In addition to incredible food, attendees can enjoy live music, cornhole, a kids zone with inflatables, community empowerment vendors, a health and wellness pavilion, giveaways, a VIP beer, wine, and spirits tent, a chicken wing eating contest, and the People's Choice Vendor Contest.

A portion of festival proceeds benefits the Against All Odds Foundation, which supports cancer survivors and families in underserved communities throughout the Lansing area.

A portion of festival proceeds benefits the Against All Odds Foundation, which supports cancer survivors and families in underserved communities throughout the Lansing area.

The Lansing Free Yoga Project invites the community to a free, beginner-friendly yoga class led by instructor Chai Tea. Held in the unique “bowl” at Fish Ladder Music Park along the Grand River, this class offers a peaceful and energizing way to begin the day.

Designed for all experience levels, the session focuses on waking up the body and mind, reducing stress, and creating a positive start to the day. Participants will experience a blend of immersive, concert-level audio alongside the natural sounds of the river, creating a calming and memorable outdoor setting.

This class is part of Lansing Free Yoga Project’s mission to provide inclusive, accessible, and meaningful yoga experiences for the community.
