Breaking Barriers Day
Presented by Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council
Breaking Barriers Day is a celebration of creativity, community, and connection!
The Breaking Barriers Art Exhibit invites the community to Lansing Shuffle for an inspiring opening reception featuring artwork by artists with developmental disabilities from across Michigan. This exhibit highlights the creativity, talent, and unique perspectives of artists whose voices are too often overlooked.
Designed as a welcoming and inclusive space, the exhibit encourages visitors to explore the artwork, connect with artists, and engage in activities that celebrate the disability community. Guests can enjoy interactive experiences, resource booths, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the event.
Following the reception, attendees are invited to continue the experience across the street at Jackson Field for a sensory-friendly Lansing Lugnuts game. The ballpark environment will be adapted to support fans with sensory sensitivities, including reduced announcements, lower volume levels, and a more relaxed game-day atmosphere—creating an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.
Breaking Barriers Day is about bringing people together in a meaningful way—celebrating creativity, building community, and creating space for every voice.
